One of my grandsons doesn’t like me to wear an apron. But fashionable? Thank you for taking the time to research this garment and I look forward to seeing your interpretation. I was thinking about my Aunt who always wore house dresses.

I'd really prefer one that closes with a button or snap made of a comfy velour. I can make them in bright colors with wacky trim.

I like the older ones with the cute pockets and such better than the muu muu type as well. Also, my Mom never ever wore pants – always had on a house dress, clean and pressed. I do not see the charm in these little "frocks" as I associate the housedress with hard work. I like wearing pretty colored dresses around the house in summer. I've never felt the house dress love. Literally. I agree dresses n skirts are cooler. She used Downy fabric softener and often hung her wash on a clothesline so they smelled wonderful. It’s happened to me in the past couple of years but I’m ready to up my game a bit. I've never post here but today I felt obligued. I actually do prefer wearing skirts or dresses and find them cooler and more comfortable than pants. I did some research while writing this post and found several really interesting links. In later years house dresses had a zipper for ease of use. I enjoy feeling more feminine, and as a larger sized lady I certainly feel more presentable in a skirt!

Fair skin, blue eyes, blonde hair…these traits do often coincide with allergies. I’m due for another “day in the life – 50’s style”, too, so be sure to watch for that. I have very sensitive skin and thought I was just about the only person in the world who had this problem with hives! As far as I’m concerned, housedresses are “in!”. I am so there….I find that most of my ‘at home’ clothes are either stained, too warm for the season, or just unflattering and I’ve made up my mind in the last few weeks that I must address this area NOW.
