i think we know why people. If you look down all the comments, The pro Manchester ones (hardly any pro manchester comments i might add, they are all for Birmingahm), the only arguement they have is the football team, that is the only reason they are internationally famous, no other reason. :-). This i beleive is a government issue and media issue, because they both give Manchester this complex, which has to be said is laughable to the surrounding cities. Birmingham is on the up, it's a slow process but it will get there. Even comparing Sutton Coalfield/Edgbaston to Wimslow/Bowden/Alderley Edge, the money in Manchester is there to see, in Birmingham the economy is clearly weaker.

House prices in Manchester are lower than in Birmingham and they are also significantly lower in the better areas of greater Manchester and Cheshire, (which is where the Manchester population generally would choose to live.)
