I'm really amazed just how well thought out and imaginative this book was. People die. This is the second book by Merritt I've read, and the guy is great.

I was honestly a little shocked, but it is all comprehensible to me. The entity is called either the Dweller or the Shining One. There is much in the book that makes me wonder whether the ideas were cadged from other writers of the time or were original with Merritt.
